Regard

Ballpoint pen sketch on newsprint, scanned, painted in PS 7.

Another collaboration with my wife, the piece it was based on can be seen here. There's an incredibly subtle gesture/expression to her piece that I don't think I was able to capture. Hers seems more quizzical and inscrutable, while mine falls into a kind of cliched gloomy pensiveness. Oh, well! I'm still pretty happy with it overall.

I originally had the sketch overlayed as a guide only, but halfway through this I realized I really liked the way it looked there. It helps add definition and interest to the finished piece I think.
